Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, the ultimatum set by unions to reach an agreement on new working conditions for ECT employees expired. Despite months of negotiations, no agreement has been reached at this time (yet). As a result, the situation remains tense.

Crucial Talks Scheduled

Two crucial talks are scheduled today (08-01-2025) between ECT staff, VAB ECT, and FNV Havens. The talks are scheduled for:

  • 2:30 p.m.
  • 10:45 p.m.

These talks could determine the outcome of the ongoing negotiations and the future course of working conditions at ECT. The outcome of these talks is therefore of great importance for further developments.

Advice to Transporters

Transport and Logistics Netherlands (TLN) has advised transporters to avoid the ECT and EMX terminals from 1 p.m. onwards. This advice stems from the expected low level of activity at the terminals. Due to the tensions surrounding negotiations and possible actions, low activity is expected, which may affect the flow of goods.

ECT: Possible Actions and Expected Impact.

ECT itself has expressed disappointment at the lack of an agreement and warns that if a solution is not found, possible actions could affect the course of service. However, the company stresses its continued commitment to finding a solution and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

We also expect delays in the handling of shipments due to the possible actions at ECT, and would advise you to take this into account in your planning.

Further Updates To Follow

The situation remains in flux, and ECT has announced that further updates will follow as soon as more is known about the outcome of the talks and further progress. It is therefore important to continue to monitor these developments closely.
