LNG trucks
The fleet has been expanded for the first time with four Volvo LNG trucks. These are Volvo FH tractors that are used for national and international transport. The reduction in CO2 emissions over longer distances was an important reason for investing in LNG.
LNG as an alternative to diesel
LNG stands for 'Liquefied Natural Gas'. Natural gas is one of the world's fastest growing energy sources and the cleanest fossil fuel. LNG therefore has enormous potential as a replacement for diesel in trucks. It is a sustainable alternative to diesel, CO2 emissions are significantly lower and it contains more energy compared to diesel.
Volvo FH with 460 hp
The Volvo FH LNG trucks with 460 hp were chosen. The trucks drive and perform just like diesel trucks, but are more economical and quieter. What's more, Volvo's LNG solution has proven to be effective: research by TNO, an independent research organization, has shown that a Volvo LNG truck delivers a 20% to 23% reduction in CO2 emissions.
Sustainability & innovation
Sustainability and innovation are high on our agenda. In addition to the use of multimodal transport and solar panels on our buildings, we have also recently invested in an automatic tire pressure system on all trailers. With the arrival of four LNG trucks, we have taken another step towards making our logistics processes more sustainable. In 2009, we were one of the first companies to receive the Lean & Green Award for this.
