1,176 solar panels have been installed on the Transport Center 2 building. Each panel has a capacity of 295 Wp, bringing the total capacity to 346,920 Wp. The solar installation is expected to generate 305,000 kWh of electricity annually. This will provide the entire office and cross-dock with solar power.
Solar panels Transport Center 21
This is our second solar roof. The first solar panels were installed at Transport Center 21 in 2011. A total of 383 solar panels are installed on that roof, generating an average of 85,000 kWh of electricity per year. Both solar roofs deliver significant energy savings.
Sustainable logistics
\nThis means we continue to invest in sustainability, which is an important theme within the company. The purchase of solar panels fits in perfectly with our strategy to make our logistics processes more sustainable. Examples of measures taken include: intermodal and network transport, the use of longer and heavier truck combinations for route transport, ISO 14001:2015, monitoring driver behavior, and installing skylights in the crossdock.
Lean & Green
In 2009, we were one of the first companies to receive the Lean & Green Award for our sustainability policy. After implementation, we were also awarded a Lean & Green Star. Lean & Green is a CO2 reduction program that encourages organizations to grow to a higher level of sustainability by taking measures that not only save costs but also reduce environmental impact. Organizations demonstrate that they are actively striving to make their logistics processes more sustainable. The program was initiated by Connekt in 2008 and now has more than 500 companies affiliated with the network. More information about the program can be found at www.lean-green.nl. All solar panels were supplied and installed by NoCo2.
